About the project
Better Factory helps manufacturers (SMEs) enter new markets with their desired product or service portfolio. Together with business and art mentors and technology partners, manufacturers can explore new business models and digitalize their factories to match the production of new or customized products. The created RAMP IoT platform will be used for this purpose.
RAMP (Robotics Automation Marketplace) is a free and open IoT (FIWARE) platform running on state-of-the-art servers with access to cloud storage and computing, enabling connectivity to robots, sensors, cameras, AR/VR and other equipment. RAMP will provide a 3D simulation tool to create a Digital Twin for virtual testing, a space for collaborative teaming for online collaboration between other digital services.
Project activities
Better Factory brings together key players in the European technology, art and innovation landscape to provide an integrated innovation framework and a European network to deliver standardised solutions for manufacturing SMEs to develop and produce new and customised products and build around them.
Upcoming activities Better Factory – open call
Better Factory will select eight teams of European manufacturing SMEs, artists and technology providers in each open call (2021/2022). The selected teams will be supported for 12 months, where artists will be paired with technology providers to tackle challenges proposed by manufacturers.
- Discover new markets using digital technologies.
- Test and develop new agile production technologies with RAMP.
- Training to retrain employees.
- Support entrepreneurship and mentoring.
- Up to EUR 200 000 without equity / team.
The first round of the open call will start in January 2021.
