Project acronym
CEMTEX
Duration of the project
48 months (starting 1 May 2025 - 31 July 2029)
Project Coordinator
Province of Gerderland (Holandsko)

Objectives and activities of the project:

The CEMTEX project addresses the issue of medical textiles from the perspective of their circularity, deals with waste minimisation, seeks to promote changes in the approaches of responsible institutions, including regions, and to support the transition from disposable to reusable textiles and products. It identifies the many bottlenecks in both demand-side procurement and supply-side logistics and compliance, and will provide solutions and best practices to help create better policy instruments that can support both the production and reuse of circular medical textiles and promote regional value chains and the circular economy in general.

Project activities:

  • Organisation of inter-regional study visits for exchange of good practice examples and understanding of the regional eco-system
  • Implementation of thematic seminars on medical textiles from all possible angles (e.g. public procurement, European legislation, regional policy…)
  • Mapping the current status of regional policies and recommendations for improvement in the field of medical textiles
